Pavilion Gaming TG01-0005na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, could anyone help me in finding a suitable PSU

I have a Pavilion TG01-0005na gaming PC and want to upgrade the GPU from a GTX 1650 to a GTX 1660 Ti. Now I see that HP also do a PC with the exact same spec but with the 1660 Ti GPU (TG01-0011na), but it has a 400W PSU instead of the 310W PSU I have in my PC.

I have already found out that HP PSU’s aren’t the same as regular ones so can anyone recommend a PSU that will work or even where I can get the PSU which is in the TG01-0011na

Thanks

@RandomDan,

The series models are listed. Your computer belongs to the TG01 series.

Any series can have multiple models.  Just because I did not add your exact model (yet) does not mean it does not belong to the indicated series.  I have to wild-card to search for model numbers.

All these PSU have the two 2x2 and a inline 7 pin (only using 3 wires) to the motherboard. Each PSU model works with any of the listed series models.

The added features known, so far:

1) 500W - L05757-800 has 6+2 PCIe power plug.

2) 400W - 942332-001 has the 6+2 PCIe power cable.  It also has 5 wires on the 7 pin inline.

3) 400W -  L04618-800 has 6+2 PCIe power plug.

You have a 310W PSU, the L63964-004, and you stated it has an unused 6+2 plug.

BTW, it is on the first page, HP 690-0028b.  Only used 1 time in the spreadsheet, so far.  OK?

Look here, is it a 6+2 PCIe.   To 2 pin should be molded to "create"  an 8 pin.

If this is true, you have filled in an unknown and I will include it in the next update, also adding your unit.

The 2 unused plugs in the last picture resemble SATA power and the 2pin of the 6+2 .  Once you verify that plug, I will have to create a whole new column for page 2 to be accurate.

PS<> I like you challenging me.  I created that database without any help from HP.  I get a model number, and  use HP PartSurfer to obtain the PSU number. In several cases, HP used 3  PSU numbers in the same unit. That is why you will notice the X's for different PSU numbers, like the 590-p0028ng, 595-p0039c,690-067c. What help I get is from generous users that tell me the unknowns, and like you, provided pictures.

@RandomDan,

Thank you for the defined inquiry.  This a spreadsheet that will explain the various PSU units. There are 2 models of the 400W, but re-stock is varied by seller.  The GTX 1650 comes in 2 configurations, with or without the need for a 6 pin PCIe power plug. The GTX 1660 series requires an 8 pin PCIe power plug.

Can you answer a question, so I can update the spreadsheet.

1)  You are supposed to have anL64961-800 PSU and does it have a PCIe 6 pin power plug?

      (The L63964-004 just got confirmed with 6 pin, which will be updated soon).

My PC has a PSU labelled as part number L63964-004

My model isn’t shown on that spreadsheet

I’ve attached pictures of my PSU’s setup. It has the two 2x2 pin connectors and a small 7 pin connector to the motherboard and theres a long flat connector, a 2 pin connector and a 6 pin connector which aren’t being used by anything.

I can confirm that the unused connectors are indeed a SATA connector and the PCIe 6+2 connector.

i’ve decided to go for the L04618-800 400w PSU as it is the PSU which comes with the TG01-0011na which has the exact same specs as mine apart from a 1660 ti graphics card.

The 1660 Ti requires 125W as apposed to 75W for the 1650, so 90W extra should be plenty for my needs.

Thanks for your help

    • Thank you for your Cross Reference chart, I upgraded my HP 590-P0053 W with 400 Watts HP original part 942332-001 (now has new part number L04618). Note: The PS fan does not run at start up but it will spin as needed. I monitored the temperature with free  temperature monitor software.
    • BTW,  on
    • my brand new 400 Watts PS (Platinum) is was labeled both  942332  and L04618 so you may want to combined into one column on your Cross Reference chart.
