Video Card Upgrade/Installation Compatability

Hello,

I own an HP Envy TE01-1287cb, I want to add a dedicated video card for editing software, 3D modeling, and some casual games. Are there any compatible Video cards for this HP desktop model? The closest results I have found were, GeForce GTX 1060- 1060S - 1065, and RTX 2060. Are these video cards compatible with this current device? Or are there any I may have missed out on that could work? I had a lot of trouble finding what is compatible with this PC.

According to HP's specs for your HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-1287cb (9EE52AA) as fitted with a Baker motherboard (SSID: 8767), your PC had/has a stock 180-watt power supply with p/n: L81008-800 -please verify.

The cards I would recommend are a smaller-sized (two fan) graphics card model, powered by a single 8-pin PCIe power cable, such as (from good to better): GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, RTX 3050 8GB or an RTX 4060 8GB.

Depending on your budget, you could aim higher, but that would require a 500-watt power supply upgrade with p/n: L05757-800: let me know if that is what you got in mind -I didn't think so, based on, quote: "some casual games".

Consider your budget vs. graphics card performance, (re)search around, and get people's opinion.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I currently still have the factory 180w PSU installed. Are these video cards just plug and play? Would I need to upgrade the CPU also in order to use them efficiently or just the power supply? If I purchase the 500w what would be my options? I want to see what I can use with this current computer, without having to purchase an entire new machine. Current specs are i7-10700 @ 2.9 ghz with upgraded RAM @ 2x8GB

These cards are essentially plug-and-play, though I would recommend the following steps before you install your new card: download the specific Nvidia driver of your new card before you install it from here, such as:

Don't install the new GPU driver yet. Then download this very helpful freeware utility program called "DDU" ("Display Driver Uninstaller") from here: Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) download version 18.0.7.6 (guru3d.com)., choose: "Download Mirror (USA)".

Once you got your new card, run DDU (don't restart in "Safe Mode" and don't disconnect from the internet), and upon completion, make sure your PC is powered down, unplug power, push the power button for about 4 seconds to release any residual power, and install your new card.  Restart your PC, an install the Nvidia driver you previously downloaded, making sure you only install the "Game Ready Driver".

This setup does not require a new CPu? Also, this Baker Motherboard can handle that kind of power ? Will I need more fans?

That depends: what processor do you have currently installed?

And yes, a Baker motherboard can definitely handle that kind of power.  The 400-watt and 500-watt power supplies I referenced are directly compatible with your motherboard and your motherboard will only take the power it needs, and nothing more.

You probably don't need any additional cooling fans, but it wouldn't hurt, of course, to add an additional cooling fan pulling air in to improve internal air cooling.

An i7-10700 (8-Cores, 16-Threads, 2.90 GHz up to 4.80 GHz) is still a formidable gaming processor, and is already the best processor (along with the i7-10700F [non-iGPU] version) compatible with your Baker motherboard:

Do you mean with the 180-watt power supply? A GTX 1050 Ti still requires a minimum 250-watt power supply.
