Hi Latoile1967

You want to purchase the M.2 Key M component https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/wd-black-sn850-with-heatsink-fuer-ps5-2000-gb-m2-2280-ssd-21477... .

Sorry, I missed the PCIe interface when looking at your initial link to the drive.

Hello yes i ordered this one for my raid 1 for the m2 slot i show you in picture

https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/wd-black-sn850-with-heatsink-fuer-ps5-2000-gb-m2-2280-ssd-21477... .

Then i 'm right ?

Was curious to know what is the putpose on a hp omen 45 L for this one

https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/wd-black-sn850x-with-heatsink-2000-gb-m2-2280-ssd-21635317

no use, for other use ????? as on my understanding this is a PCie interface.

And latest question you forgot too answer or i missed it can you help me if i have some questions when reistalling  my Omen in raid one

Thanks a lot and have a nice weekend

Hi

Yes, you ordered the correct part (M.2 interface).

I guess the PCIe interface would require a PCIe to M.2  adapter. The adapter would connect to a PCIe x4 slot on the MB. Both drives seem the same in the images provided at the vendor site??

I can try to help with the RAID setup. I haven't used RAID in many years. It seems you are doing RAID 1 (mirroring for data recovery/operational continuity).

I now use offline data backups using disk backup and recovery software.

Have a great weekend.

Hello,

It seems you are doing RAID 1 (mirroring for data recovery/operational continuity). YES CORRECT

i use also samsungt7 external ssd drive for backup

Mavbe i lost money for raid 1 but once on my old pc i lost a SSD 2..5 inch stadart and my backup was done on samsung

t7 external ssd drive one month before then i lost a lof of work. and i forget to enable a online backup like one drive or orher, dummies error.

Hope when the raid 1 will be done i think i will do a hard one if i m right hp omen support that by bios right ?, btw  i can check. this is more "elegant" than a software one. Hope that a warning will appears if my raid is corrupted or damaged any idea ? (for hard one i mean)

PS: i checked the bios and seach on the internet iidont think so a a harware 1 material is possible, maybe i m wrong but

I dont find it option on the bios.

The strange think my onld pc 12 years ago is able to do that by material but this is a custom one not a branded one

Laterst think check my goofle search

https://www.google.com/search?q=wd+black+sn850x+avec+heatsink+2000+go%2C+m.2+2280+pci+e&oq=&aqs=chro...

you will see that some like mediamarckt point the same as digitec with the same model....

And for me PCI Expfess is not this kind of form factor this is why  i was lost

and i m still lost but not importand as i oderded the right one

Many thanls my friend for your precious help

Hi Latoile1967,

My pleasure.

This site  https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/766006/intel-rapid-storage-technology-driver-raid-f... may provide some tips: motherboard settings using RAID with Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST).

The above site states you need VMD https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/intel-volume-management-device-o... enabled in the BIOS and chipset storage needs to be set to RAID or Intel Optane Technology. I don't know think your PC supports VMD. VMD appears to require Intel Xeon CPUs.

You have an Intel MB. HP should have installed IRST at the factory.

I really can't tell you much more because I have not used RAID in about 15 years.

Hi Latoile1967

My pleasure.

Windows will provide a standard NVMe controller.

A new SSD needs to be initialized in Disk Management.

Check this link https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/disk-management/initialize-new-disks

You want to use GPT partitioning.
