OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000a (207P7AV)

Hello!
My HP Omen 30L Desktop with a Ryzen 7 5800X and RTX 3070 Ti stopped booting after a recent Windows 11 BIOS update.

The system powers on (fans spin, LAN port lights up, and front USB ports provide power), but there’s no display output, no keyboard or mouse lighting, and it doesn’t POST or boot into Windows.

I’ve already tried:
– Replacing the CMOS battery and clearing CMOS (SW_CMOS jumper)
– Reseating RAM, GPU, and CPU
– Creating a BIOS recovery USB (but the BIOS installer can’t extract files on my non-HP laptop)

Because the installer (sp140166.exe) refuses to unpack on non-HP systems, I can’t get the Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\NEW\08876F13.bin recovery image.

Could you please email or provide a download link for the correct BIOS recovery USB image for my system (Omen 30L / BIOS Family SSID 8876 / Version F.13 Rev.A)?

Alternatively, if that’s not possible, can you arrange a BIOS reflash or motherboard replacement? This BIOS corruption occurred right after the Windows update attempted a BIOS upgrade.

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Is your PC in warranty? HP might assist if you have an active warranty.

I tried to create a HP USB BIOS Recovery Drive using sp140166.exe on my non-HP AMD PC. I've been creating HP BIOS recovery drives for years and have never had this happen.

This is the error I'm getting:

BIOS error.png

Are you getting the same error on your non-HP Laptop?

I also tried an older BIOS version (sp136205.exe) in the "Revision history" at this HP Site having the same result.

It looks like this is happening because my W11 PC has Memory Integrity on. Try turning off Memory Integrity to see if you can create a HP USB BIOS Recovery drive.

The HP BIOS recovery drive may not help if your PC has no video output or USB data function.

You may have to have a local PC Tech flash the BIOS using a Serial ISP Programmer if you cannot flash the BIOS using a HP USB BIOS Recovery drive and your HP PC is out of warranty.

Hello, thank you so much for replying to my post. Ah I see, so memory integrity is what’s causing the file to not load. And yes, I am getting the same display message on my Lenovo Yoga laptop. Curiously, I plugged in my viper mouse to see if the usb ports were getting power, and the mouse was charging! I still have hope the flash will work but I just don’t know why the keyboard (which has rgb lighting) wasn’t turning on at all. Hopefully if the usb ports have power, then maybe the flash will work? Also, if I turn off memory integrity on my laptop, will the .exe launch?

My pleasure.

I haven't tried running sp140166.exe with memory Integrity off on my PC so I don't know if this will help. Turning off memory Integrity should fix the problem.

Try this and let the Forum know how it goes.

Not having video on your HP PC after a bad BIOS update is not a good sign. You will not be able to see what's going on even if the USB ports move data.

And the MB is providing power to USB but this is not a guarantee USB can do data. No data over USB would also be due to a corrupted BIOS.

I understand. Wow well that sucks but we’ll see what happens. I might just have to take it to a shop like you said. Thanks for your help, I’ll definitely keep you updated.

Hello Bill, after trying absolutely everything, I got it to work! Like something out of a fantasy, I reseated and try to disconnect and reconnet about every single connection to my motherboard and it seems like the PWRBTN was the issue? I'm not even too sure. I reconnected the connection and tried to turn the computer on and it booted into BIOS.

Good to see you fixed the problem.

Reseating all MB connections would never have crossed my mind.

The problem description in this thread seemed to point to a faulty BIOS update.
