Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check the USB Port: Try plugging the mouse into a different USB port on your laptop. Sometimes, a particular port might be loose or malfunctioning.

  2. Update Drivers: Ensure that your mouse drivers are up to date. You can do this by:

    • Going to Device Manager.
    • Finding your mouse under "Mice and other pointing devices."
    • Right-clicking on it and selecting "Update driver."
    • Following the on-screen instructions to update the driver.
  3. Power Management Settings:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Find your mouse under "Mice and other pointing devices."
    • Right-click on it and select "Properties."
    • Go to the "Power Management" tab.
    • Uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
  4. Check for Interference: If you're using a wireless mouse, ensure there are no sources of interference nearby, such as other wireless devices or large metal objects.

  5. Battery Check: If your mouse is wireless, make sure the batteries are fully charged or replace them with new ones.

  6. Reinstall Mouse Drivers: Sometimes, uninstalling and then reinstalling the mouse drivers can fix the issue.

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Find your mouse under "Mice and other pointing devices."
    • Right-click on it and select "Uninstall device."
    • Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the mouse drivers.
  7. Windows Updates: Ensure your Windows 10 is up to date. Sometimes, system updates can fix underlying issues.

    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Check for updates and install any available updates.
  8. Try Another Mouse: If possible, try connecting another mouse to your laptop. This can help determine if the issue is with your mouse or the laptop itself.
