Hi @kshtij,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm here to help you troubleshoot the issues you're facing with your OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC (16-xf0000). Based on your description, it sounds like there are several issues after the recent motherboard and RAM replacement. Let's go through the steps to resolve each of these:

1. Refresh Rate Issue (64 Hz instead of 165 Hz):

  • Check Display Settings:
    1. Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
    2. Scroll down and click on Advanced display settings.
    3. Under Choose a refresh rate, select 165 Hz from the dropdown if available.
  • Update Graphics Drivers:
    1. Open Device Manager (right-click on the Start button and select it).
    2. Expand Display adapters.
    3. Right-click on your graphics card (e.g., NVIDIA or Intel), and select Update driver.
    4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  • NVIDIA Control Panel:
    1. Right-click on the desktop and open NVIDIA Control Panel.
    2. Go to Change resolution under Display.
    3. Ensure the refresh rate is set to 165 Hz.

2. Windows Activation Issue:

  • Check Activation Status:
    1. Open Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
    2. Check the activation status. If it shows "Windows is not activated," proceed to activate.
  • Activate Windows:
    1. Click on Troubleshoot if the option is available.
    2. Follow the on-screen instructions. This might resolve the activation issue automatically.
  • Re-enter Product Key:
    1. If you have a Windows product key, select Change product key in the activation menu.
    2. Enter the key and follow the instructions to activate.

3. Microphone Not Working:

  • Check Privacy Settings:
    1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
    2. Ensure that Allow apps to access your microphone is turned on.
  • Troubleshoot Microphone:
    1. Open Control Panel and go to Hardware and Sound > Sound.
    2. Click on the Recording tab, and ensure your microphone is listed and enabled.
    3. Right-click on your microphone and select Set as Default Device if it isn’t already.
  • Update Audio Drivers:
    1. In Device Manager, expand Audio inputs and outputs.
    2. Right-click on your microphone, and select Update driver.
    3. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  • Run the Audio Troubleshooter:
    1. Go to Settings > System > Sound.
    2. Click on Troubleshoot under the Input section.
  • BIOS Update: Ensure your BIOS is up to date as the motherboard replacement might have affected some settings.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, updates resolve issues with drivers and hardware.

If these steps don't resolve your issues, it might be best to return to the HP service center for further assistance, as hardware replacements can occasionally cause configuration errors that need a hands-on approach.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
