Hello everyone, as the title say I have only 5.92GB of RAM useable, even I have 8GB installed. If you are going to say that i must have the "Maximum memory" unchecked in msconfig, yea, I have it unchecked. Can I solve this problem, is there any solution other than buy another physical RAM?

Hi:

That is a known issue..

See this article HP released regarding this matter.

This seems to only apply to models with AMD processors and chipsets.

Info on Microsoft PlayReady.

Is there a way to uninstall this PlayReady feature? My laptop freezes for 1s every 4-5s, for a new laptop I am not very thankful with this performance, and I paid some good money for it, buying more RAM is not a pleasure for a new laptop...

I don't think the play ready feature is installed yet.

I had a similar issue with my HP 255 G7 AMD notebook freezing and slowing to a crawl periodically.

I found that Windows Update automatically downloaded some HP program called HP Analytics.

See if you got the same program by going to the Windows Control Panel>System & Security>Administrative Tools>Services, look down the list and see if there is a HP Analytics service.  It will be running and set to start automatically.

Stop the service, and change the Startup Type to Disabled and then restart the PC.

See if that takes care of the freezing problem.

The process is there but is disabled, the freezing problem still here....

If your notebook is still under warranty, I suggest that you contact HP customer support for further assistance.

it is not the 5.92 GB net memory that is causing that problem.

I've analyzed the situation closer and figured out that it freezes for exactly 2 seconds at a interval of 10-13 seconds every time I am using the laptop. The laptop never freezes in games, only in other apps or in desktop. So the RAM still not the problem?
