HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 16
Microsoft Windows 11

Good morning,
I have a HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 16-a0020n.
I would add a second hard disk.
What kind of hard disk can I add? SSD 2.5'' or M.2.
How many slot for hard disk are avaible?
I used Speccy for releve these informations but I don't see additional slots for Hard Disk
I don't want open the laptop in this first phase.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.

Rocco.

Good morning, and you're welcome.

Yes, it sure looks like you can simply add a 2.5" SSD where the plastic filler is.

It even has the SATA cable to connect the drive to.

Hi, Rocco:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook's model series.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

Chapter 1 has the supported drive types and configurations.

I think the easiest thing to do if you need more storage would be to replace the 512GB NVMe SSD with one having a larger storage capacity.

Most likely the parts are not present to add a 2.5" drive since your notebook came with a M.2 SSD.

Hi Sir,

in that guide a 2.5 '' slot is reported. Is it true?

Hi

The manual is going to list the parts that could have come with the notebook, not necessarily the parts that did.

You'll have to open it up and see if the parts are there to add a 2.5" drive.

My assumption is that they are not there since the notebook did not come with a 2.5" drive.

Good morning, I had to open the notebook eventually. I found a fake 2.5 '' plastic harddisk. Now I will try to insert an SSD in that slot and let you know if it works. Thanks for the support.
