Thanks for getting back to us.
Your passion and enthusiasm for HP products and computing optimization really shine through—I can tell you’re both a long-time supporter and someone who knows your way around hardware configurations!
Why Advanced BIOS Settings Are Restricted
HP, like many manufacturers, restricts advanced BIOS settings to maintain stability, ensure broader compatibility, and protect the system from accidental misconfigurations. These limitations exist primarily to:
- Prevent Overheating or Damage:
- Adjusting settings like TDP limits, voltage, or turbo boost can result in performance gains but also increases the risk of overheating or hardware damage, especially for users unfamiliar with these changes.
- Ensure Warranty and Support:
- Altering core settings could void warranties or create difficult-to-diagnose issues, making it harder for HP to support users efficiently.
- Simplify User Experience:
- HP devices cater to a wide audience, many of whom prefer a plug-and-play experience without delving into technical adjustments.
Alternative Workarounds
While HP doesn’t allow access to these settings in their BIOS, you could explore these options:
- Throttlestop or Intel XTU:
- These tools enable you to adjust CPU power limits, turbo boost settings, and even undervolt your processor (though undervolting may be locked on some newer CPUs).
- Custom BIOS:
- For advanced users, some third-party BIOS mods unlock hidden features—but proceed cautiously as this voids warranties and carries risks.
- Thermal Solutions:
- Improving laptop cooling (e.g., external cooling pads or repasting thermal compound) can indirectly boost performance without requiring BIOS changes.
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Accessing advanced BIOS settings on HP laptops, including the HP Victus 16, can be challenging as HP often restricts these settings to prevent unintended changes that could affect system stability.
Always ensure proper cooling when optimizing CPU performance to avoid thermal throttling or damage.
Keep in mind that modifying BIOS settings or using third-party tools is at your own risk and may lead to system instability.
If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hello! You are a great brand, one of my favorites. My first HP computer was HP ProDesk 400 G2 MT on i7-4790, I bought it in early 2015 and it still works like new. Why are advanced BIOS settings blocked in HP laptops? HP could open small settings such as the maximum temperature for triggering processor throttling, lowering the processor power package TDP PL1 PL2, simple RAM settings to disable RAM power saving and frequency jumps, disabling turbo boost, Yes, open voltage settings and the like in the BIOS will lead to the fact that everyone who does not understand will start changing everything and the laptop will have a judgment day 😂. But such small and necessary settings that I listed should be present in the BIOS, this is elementary for optimization and saving the machine and processor from overheating. I ask HP to implement my request !!! 😀👍🏻 People will be happy about this.

Hello! You are absolutely right. I understand you, all illiterate users, of whom 95% are, should not go into the BIOS with advanced settings, otherwise it will be very bad. 😂People will finish off the equipment under warranty and ask for a new one at your expense.
(Everything is fine, I think you understand me)👍🏻Have a nice day. HP BEST!!!
