Hi i have an hp victus 15 fb-0147ax it has been around a month since i bought it. But for a couple of days im getting a slow battery drain issue. When i did further research i found my laptop's battery was constantly being used even after shutdown. I disabled fast startup. I barely use it for like 4-5 hours but it is showing above 20hr and even 24hr.

Hi @HariOm_Sharma,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's concerning that your HP Victus 15 is experiencing battery drain even after shutdown. Here are some steps you can take to address this issue.
Disable Fast Startup
- You've already done this, which is good since Fast Startup can sometimes cause battery drain by keeping the system in a hybrid sleep state.
Check for Background Processes
- Ensure that no background processes or peripherals are drawing power after shutdown. Disconnect all USB devices, and if you have any external peripherals, try disconnecting them before shutting down the laptop.
Update BIOS and Drivers
- Check HP's support website to ensure your BIOS and all drivers are up to date, particularly power management drivers.
Perform a Hard Shutdown
- After shutting down your laptop, hold the power button down for 10 seconds. This forces the laptop to fully shut down, which might prevent any lingering processes from draining the battery.
Check for Hybrid Shutdown
- Sometimes the system may not fully shut down, even with Fast Startup disabled. Ensure that you're performing a full shutdown by holding the Shift key while clicking "Shut Down" from the Start menu.
Check Battery Health
- Use the HP Support Assistant or HP Diagnostics to check the health of your battery. If the battery is faulty, it might drain quicker than usual.
Hibernate Instead of Shutdown
- As a temporary workaround, try putting your laptop into hibernation instead of shutting down. Hibernation uses zero battery power.
Reset Power Settings
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Restore default settings for this plan. This might resolve any power settings that could be contributing to the issue.
Check for Sleep-Related Issues
- If you often close the lid to sleep the laptop, ensure that it’s going into the proper sleep mode (S3 state) and not staying active or in a semi-active state (S0 state). This can sometimes be configured in the BIOS.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
