Hi @diegoch,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's common for laptops, especially gaming ones, to experience battery drain while plugged in, particularly during demanding tasks like gaming. This can occur for several reasons.
- Power Consumption vs. Power Supply: Gaming can draw more power than what the charger can supply, especially if you're running high-performance settings or if the laptop's GPU is under heavy load.
- Battery Health: If the battery isn't in optimal condition, it might not hold a charge as efficiently. You can check the battery health through the HP Support Assistant or Windows settings.
- Settings and Power Management: Make sure your power settings are optimized for performance while plugged in. You can adjust settings in Windows under Power Options.
- Background Processes: Sometimes, background applications consume resources. Check for any unnecessary programs running that could be contributing to the drain.
To mitigate the issue:
- Lower Graphics Settings: Reducing the graphics settings in your games may help reduce power consumption.
- Update Drivers: Ensure your graphics drivers and Windows are up to date, as updates can improve efficiency.
- Use Performance Mode: If your laptop has a performance mode, enable it when gaming to help manage power consumption.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
