Dear Customer Support,
I am writing to report an issue with my HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2xxx. On May 1st, 2023, I updated the BIOS of my laptop as per the recommended instructions. However, since then, I have noticed a significant decrease in my laptop's battery life. The battery now drains within an hour of usage, which is highly inconvenient and disruptive to my work.
I have tried various troubleshooting steps, including disabling unnecessary programs and services, and optimizing power settings. However, none of these measures have helped resolve the issue.
I would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter and provide a solution as soon as possible. I rely on my laptop for work and this issue is causing significant disruption to my productivity.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Hi @Anup_Khismatrao,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing battery drainage issues on your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15 after a BIOS update, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.
- Power settings: Check the power settings on your laptop and make sure they are optimized for battery life. You can access the power settings by right-clicking on the battery icon in the system tray and selecting "Power Options." Choose a power plan that is balanced or focused on power saving.
- Update drivers: Ensure that all your drivers, including the chipset and graphics drivers, are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause battery drain issues. Visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your laptop model.
- Reset BIOS settings: If the battery drainage issue started after a BIOS update, there might be a configuration issue. Try resetting the BIOS settings to default. To do this, restart your laptop and enter the BIOS menu by pressing a specific key (usually Esc, F2, or Del) during the boot process. Look for an option to reset to default settings or load-optimized defaults. Save the changes and restart the laptop.
- Rollback BIOS update: If the battery drain issue persists after resetting the BIOS settings, it's possible that the new BIOS version is causing the problem. In that case, you may want to consider rolling back to the previous BIOS version. Check the HP support website for instructions on how to perform a BIOS rollback for your specific laptop model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
