HI @Vegeta1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It’s not uncommon for laptop batteries to experience some degree of wear and reduced performance over time. However, a drop from 100% to 94% almost immediately after charging could indicate a few potential issues. Here are some steps to diagnose and address the problem:
1. Battery Calibration:
- Sometimes, the battery’s calibration can become inaccurate. To recalibrate:
- Charge your laptop to 100%.
- Use it until it completely drains and shuts down.
- Leave it off for a few hours, then charge it back to 100% without interruption.
2. Check Battery Health:
- Use Windows' built-in battery report:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter. This generates a report.
- The report will be saved in your user folder. Open it to check the health and performance of your battery.
3. Update Drivers and BIOS:
- Ensure your battery drivers and BIOS are up to date. Go to the HP Support website, enter your product number, and download the latest versions.
4. Power Settings:
- Check your power settings in Windows:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & battery.
- Make sure your settings are optimized for battery life.
5. Consider Usage Patterns:
- Running resource-intensive applications or settings (like high brightness) can affect battery performance. Monitor your usage habits.
6. Replace the Battery:
- If the battery health report shows significant wear or if the issue persists, it may be time to consider replacing the battery.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
