Hi @Navarasu,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for the detailed update, Manjunath. Based on your experience with the Victus by HP 15.6" Gaming Laptop (15-fb2000), it’s clear that your battery is showing signs of critical failure. Even though it appears to be charging, the laptop shuts down when unplugged and only works after a restart. You’ve already done the right thing by updating drivers and raising a case with HP Support.
What You Can Do Now
1. Run HP UEFI Battery Diagnostics
Even if you’ve done this before, try again with the charger connected:
- Restart the laptop and press Esc, then F2 to enter diagnostics.
- Run the Battery Test.
- If it shows a Failure ID, take a screenshot or note it if it confirms a hardware failure.
2. Check Battery Health via HP Support Assistant
- Open HP Support Assistant.
- Go to My Devices > Battery > Battery Check.
- If it shows “Replace” or “Battery not detected”, this confirms the issue.
3. Update BIOS and EC Firmware
- Official HP® Support.
- Download and install the latest BIOS and Embedded Controller (EC) firmware.
- These updates can fix battery detection issues.
4. Request Battery Replacement
If diagnostics confirm failure and you’re within warranty (2 months since purchase), HP must replace the battery under warranty.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
