So I've had a problem with the laptop battery for a little while where it won't work without the charger constantly in. I'm not completely sure why it did this given that it had been over just a year since I bought it and it came really without any warning. So just wanted to know if there's anything I can do to fix it other than outright buying another battery?

Hello @LTC1
There are a lot of threads on this forum on that subject.
You did not mention the full model number of your Pavilion which is helpful for us.
Try this...
With the power cord plugged in, run the HP UEFI Diagnostics tool for component tests and test the battery.
Scroll down to Running the UEFI Component Tests from the link below to learn how to run battery and AC power cord tests.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259
Most likely for whatever reason, if the battery fails the test, its dead and needs to be replaced.
Let me know what happens.
