Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598U8AV)

My HP victus laptop's bluetooth adapter is not working. In device manager it shows error code 43: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.

I have already tried restarting the laptop and doing a full power reset, running the windows bluetooth troubleshooter, uninstalling and reinstalling the bluetooth driver, installing the latest driver from support.Hp.Com, turning off the power-saving option for the adapter
The problem is still not fixed. Please advise on repair or replacement options.

Hi @avk_yt

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

Since the already completed power reset, Windows Bluetooth troubleshooting, driver removal/reinstallation, installation of the latest HP driver, and disabling power management covers the common software-side causes.

Device Manager Code 43 is significant because Windows is reporting that the Bluetooth hardware/driver has reported a failure. Microsoft notes that Code 43 can occur when a driver controlling the device notifies Windows that the device has failed.

For the Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598U8AV), HP provides a dedicated troubleshooting page and PC Hardware Diagnostics as the next diagnostic path.

Therefore, since the standard software troubleshooting has already been exhausted, a hardware-level Bluetooth adapter issue should be considered, but it should be confirmed through HP diagnostics before recommending replacement of the system or wireless card.

If HP hardware diagnostics report a wireless/Bluetooth hardware failure, or the adapter continues to show Code 43 after the appropriate HP driver/BIOS validation, HP service should inspect the wireless module and system board rather than repeatedly reinstalling the Bluetooth driver. The appropriate repair/replacement option depends on the diagnostic result and warranty status.

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

If you have already tried the "Try these steps first" section, check the hardware documentation or contact the manufacturer for more information about diagnosing the problem.

Reinstall the device driver manually

  1. From Start, search for device manager and select Device Manager from the results.
  2. Right-click the device in the list.
  3. Select Uninstall from the menu that appears.
  4. After the device is uninstalled, choose Action on the menu bar.
  5. Select Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver.

Check the Bluetooth adapter status

  1. Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Bluetooth.
  3. Right-click the Bluetooth adapter showing the yellow warning icon.
  4. Select Properties → check the Device status.
  5. Go to Details → select Hardware Ids from the Property dropdown.
  6. Note the Hardware IDs shown there.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

This is the most important step now because the adapter continues to report Code 43 after software troubleshooting.

  1. Shut down the notebook.
  2. Turn it on and repeatedly press Esc.
  3. When the Startup Menu appears, press F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  4. Select Component Tests.
  5. Look for the available Wireless/Network test.
  6. Run the test.
  7. Allow the test to complete.

If it reports a failure, record the Failure ID and revert.

Take care and have an amazing day!
