Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb3000 (A8RU3AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello everyone,

I need help with my HP Victus laptop because the built-in camera is not working. Whenever I try to use the camera on apps like Zoom, Google Meet, or the Camera app, it either shows a black screen, says “camera not detected,” or does not open at all.

Here are the things I already tried:

  • Restarting the laptop
  • Checking camera permissions in Windows Settings
  • Updating Windows
  • Updating/reinstalling the camera driver in Device Manager
  • Using the HP Support Assistant
  • Testing the camera in different apps

But the issue is still happening.

Hi @Harvsss

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I acknowledge the concern. Thank you for sharing the steps you have already tried, that helps narrow down the situation. Since the built‑in camera is still not functioning across multiple applications, let’s proceed with checks to ensure the hardware is properly detected and configured.

Verify BIOS Settings

  • Restart the laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS Setup.
  • In BIOS, look under Advanced or System Configuration for an option related to the integrated camera.
  • Ensure the camera is enabled. Save changes and restart.

Run HP App – Diagnose & Fix

  • Open the HP App from Windows.
  • Select Diagnose & Fix.
  • Run a full system check. This tool will automatically detect missing drivers or hardware issues and apply fixes if available.

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

  • Visit the official HP Support page for your product:
HP Victus 16-d0000 Laptop PC series
  • Enter your product number.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and Chipset drivers. These updates are critical for hardware recognition.

Test with HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Power on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then select F2 for Diagnostics.
  • Run a component test for the camera.
  • If the test does not detect the camera, it indicates the hardware is not being recognized at system level.

Perform a Power Reset

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect and restart. This clears residual power and can help re‑initialize hardware.

If after these steps the camera still does not appear in Device Manager or diagnostics, it confirms the system is not detecting the camera module. Applying BIOS and chipset updates is the most important step before considering further options.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
