Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000
Microsoft Windows 11

WHEN I PLAY VALORANT I GET FPS AROUND 140 AND MY CPU Utilization IS AROUND 30%. BUT WHEREAS MY FREIND HAS SAME SPECS AS MY LAPTOP BUT HE GETS A FPS AROUND 250. SO WHY MY LAPTOP IS NOT ABLE TO DO THE SAME.

Hi @HelloWorld6969,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The difference in FPS (frames per second) between your Victus By HP 15.6 Inch Gaming Laptop and your friend's, despite having the same specifications, can be due to several factors. Here are a few things to consider.

Performance Settings

  • Power Plan: Ensure your laptop is set to "High Performance" in the power options.
  • Game Mode: Make sure Windows Game Mode is turned on. This can be found in the Settings under "Gaming".

Driver Updates

  • Ensure that both your graphics card and chipset drivers are up to date. Visit the HP support website or the graphics card manufacturer's site (NVIDIA or AMD) for the latest drivers.

Background Processes

  • Close unnecessary background applications that might be consuming CPU or memory resources. Use Task Manager to identify and terminate these processes.

Thermal Throttling

  • Overheating can cause thermal throttling, reducing performance. Ensure your laptop is well-ventilated and consider using a cooling pad.

In-Game Settings

  • Compare your in-game settings with your friend's. Different settings (like resolution, texture quality, shadows, etc.) can significantly impact FPS.

Windows Updates

  • Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, OS updates can improve system performance.

BIOS/UEFI Settings

  • Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your laptop. Also, ensure that the settings in BIOS/UEFI are optimized for gaming.

Software Optimization

  • Use optimization tools such as NVIDIA GeForce Experience or AMD Radeon Software to automatically adjust game settings for better performance.

Network Issues

  • Since Valorant is an online game, network performance can also impact FPS. Ensure you have a stable and fast internet connection.

Hardware Check

  • Although unlikely, it's possible that there's a hardware issue with your laptop. Running diagnostic tools can help identify any potential problems.

Differences in Storage

  • If your friend has installed Valorant on an SSD and you have it on an HDD, it could affect load times and performance. Ensure the game is installed on an SSD if available.

Clean Installation

  • Sometimes, a clean installation of the game or even the operating system can resolve performance discrepancies.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
