No Camera is detected in my laptop although it has an inbuilt camera. Device manager does not show any camera device driver. The camera worked perfectly till one month back.
Then an issue arised. When I open windows camera app the camera light blinked for a second as if it is trying to start, but failed. It happened repeatedly after few seconds until i closed camera app.
Today after a windows update, the camera device has completely disappered from the system, the device manager and settings cant detect any camera. I have contacted Microsoft for help, they said its a driver issue and searched HP website for required driver but its not provided. HP team kindly provide the driver.

@SBD17, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Camera Issues on Victus by HP Gaming Laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If the built-in camera on your Victus by HP Gaming Laptop isn't detected or functioning properly, especially after a Windows update, follow these troubleshooting steps:
1. Check Physical Connections
- Ensure that the webcam's privacy switch or shutter key is not activated. The privacy switch can disable the webcam, making it invisible to the system. Locate the switch on the side of your laptop or near the camera and slide it to turn the camera on.
2. Verify Webcam Settings
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera (Windows 11) or Settings > Privacy > Camera (Windows 10) to ensure that apps have permission to access your camera.
3. Update Drivers
- Use HP Support Assistant to search for any available updates, especially for drivers related to the webcam. You can also check the HP Drivers website for specific updates:
4. Use Device Manager to Scan for Hardware Changes
- Open Device Manager and select Action > Scan for hardware changes. This can sometimes force Windows to recognize the camera.
5. Microsoft System Restore
- If the camera was working perfectly until recently, use Microsoft System Restore to revert to a point when the camera was functioning correctly. This method might resolve any software conflicts introduced by recent updates.
6. Test for Hardware Failures
- Run the Webcam Connection Test in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to determine if there might be a hardware issue
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
