OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-b0000 (33Z77AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello HP Support,

I’m experiencing an issue with my HP OMEN Laptop 16-b0068nia (60H77EA). After performing a factory reset, the built-in webcam stopped working. It is no longer detected in Device Manager or by any application.

I have attempted the following:

  • Checked privacy settings

  • Looked through BIOS (no camera disable option found)

  • Reinstalled all available drivers from HP's website

Unfortunately, none of these steps resolved the issue. The camera is still missing from the system.

I would appreciate help restoring full functionality to my device or advice on whether this is a hardware fault that requires service.

Thank youthis is what I see when I open the camera appthis is what I see when I open the camera appthe device manager with the show hidden devices enabledthe device manager with the show hidden devices enabledno camera driver showingno camera driver showing

Hi @Sasuke-Uchihia,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed description. Based on your issue with the HP OMEN Laptop 16-b0068nia (60H77EA), where the webcam is not detected after a factory reset, and the camera is missing from Device Manager, here are some targeted steps to help:

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check for a Webcam Privacy Switch or Shutter Key
Some HP laptops have a physical switch or keyboard key (often F8 or a key with a camera icon) that disables the webcam.
    • Slide the privacy switch (if present) to the open position.
    • Press the shutter key (possibly with the Fn key) to toggle the camera on.

  2. Perform a Hard Reset (Power Reset)
This can clear residual memory and restore hardware detection:
    • Shut down the laptop.
    • Unplug the power adapter.
    • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power and boot up.

  3. Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI
    • Turn off the laptop.
    • Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open diagnostics.
    • Run the Component Tests > Webcam to check for hardware issues.

  4. Check BIOS Settings Again
    • Restart and press Esc > F10 to enter BIOS.
    • Look under the Advanced or Security tabs for any camera-related settings.

  5. Try Microsoft System Restore
If the camera worked before the reset, you can try restoring to a previous point:
    • Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
