Microsoft Windows 11

My camera disconnects frequently I have tried all the possible fixes such as changing things in the registry as well as redownloading the driver, I have also tried to overlap install the Windows 11, but my camera still does not work properly. I badly need help. My laptop is Victus 16 with an integrated Hp wide Vision hd camera

Hi @owa8,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried several approaches to fix the issue with your integrated HP Wide Vision HD camera. Since the problem persists even after driver reinstalls, registry changes, and an OS reinstall, here are some additional troubleshooting steps to consider.

Check Device Connection

  • Open Device Manager: Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras, then check if the camera is listed and if there are any warning signs (like a yellow triangle).
  • Right-click on the camera device and click Properties > Events to see if the camera has been disconnected due to an error.

Update BIOS and Firmware

  • Ensure that your BIOS and chipset drivers are fully up to date. A misconfigured BIOS could cause disconnections.
  • Visit the HP Support Website and enter your laptop model to check for the latest BIOS and firmware updates.

Disable Power Management for Camera

  • Device Manager > Find the Camera > Properties > Power Management tab.
  • Uncheck the box that says Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Test in Safe Mode

  • Boot into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If the camera works fine in Safe Mode, it could indicate a conflict with a background program or service.
    • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and under Boot, check Safe Boot.

HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool to test the camera hardware:
    • Turn off the laptop, press the Power button, and then immediately press Esc to enter the Startup Menu.
    • Select System Diagnostics and look for a camera test to verify if the hardware is malfunctioning.

Check for Conflicting Software

  • Check for any software that might be conflicting with your camera (such as third-party webcam utilities or security software). Temporarily disable or uninstall them to see if the issue resolves.

Physical Connection Issue

  • It's possible that the internal connection of the camera to the motherboard might be loose.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
