I tried with the OMEN lightning studio and it said that there weren't any devices connected, I wanna know if it's possible for this laptop to change the keyboard's colors or if I have to stay with the plain white lights

Hi @Bparade,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Changing the color of your laptop's keyboard depends on several factors, including the laptop model and the software capabilities. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and determine if you can change the keyboard color on your laptop:
1. Verify Keyboard Lighting Capabilities
- Check Laptop Model: Confirm if your laptop model supports customizable keyboard lighting. Some laptops come with RGB backlit keyboards that allow color changes, while others may have only static or single-color lighting.
2. Install or Update Keyboard Software
- OMEN Command Center: For HP OMEN laptops, use the OMEN Command Center instead of OMEN Lightning Studio. The OMEN Command Center is often the software used for customizing RGB lighting. Make sure it’s installed and updated to the latest version.
- Driver Updates: Ensure that all drivers, including those for the keyboard and lighting, are up-to-date.
3. Check Connections
- USB Devices: If the OMEN Lightning Studio is not detecting your device, ensure that the keyboard is properly connected. If it’s an external keyboard, try different USB ports.
4. Use Built-in Options
- Function Keys: Some laptops have built-in shortcuts for changing keyboard lighting. For HP laptops, you might be able to adjust lighting by pressing a specific function key (e.g., F5, F4) combined with the Fn key. Look for a key with a lighting icon.
5. Consult the User Manual
- Manufacturer’s Documentation: Check the user manual or the laptop manufacturer’s website for details on keyboard lighting options. This can confirm whether your laptop supports color changes and how to configure it.
6. Check BIOS Settings
- BIOS/UEFI Settings: Sometimes keyboard lighting settings can be adjusted in the BIOS/UEFI firmware settings. Restart your laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, or DEL during startup) to see if there are any lighting options.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
