The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05997521
It has 1 Thunderbolt™ 3 (Data Transfer up to 40 Gb/s, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge) port. In theory you can charge your machine with USB-C charger using this USB-C port
But, your machine comes with 200 W AC power adapter. You know the rules of physics therefore you need a more wattage USB-C charger to be able to charge and keep machine up and running. You MAY BE able to use 100W to charge when it is OFF.
Regards.

Thanks, I figured it would just charge. I use the laptop away from my office and looking for the most convenient way to walk in attach 1 cord and be done.. Right now I have a spaghetti of cords all over the place, now they're all hidden behind behind the desk. another quick question, is the j5 create a good solution? HP doesn't make with all the capabilities that it has. It was an impulse buy from best buy and seems to be adequate but was wondering if you knew of anything better. Thanks & have a Great Day, Jim
