OMEN 15-ce0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey everyone,

Like the title says, I'd like to know if OMEN 15-ce0xx (Product number: 2PY80EA#AKE) has an M.2 SSD slot available.

It came with a magnetic (spinning) HDD, which I swapped out for a SATA SSD, but I'd like to get NVMe if possible.
Thanks!

It sits on top of the cushion. The cushion might have a peel away strip on top to act as double sided tape if you dont have an M.2 screw to use. I prefer the screw method and you might need to order one also.

HP only sent the units out with those two capacities. But there is no limit as to what you use. You can install a 1 or 2 TB SSD if you can find one.

Yes your model can also use an NVMe M.2 SSD. But before you order one, its best to confirm the slot is there.

Some have reported the slot missing when only an HDD is installed.

Here is the location...

Here is your manual...

You might also have to purchase the screw and stand off to mount the SSD with. You will need to open it up and look.

Hi @Photoray002

I've opened up the laptop and taken some photos. Can you confirm that this is the required port?

Looks like it should fit on top of the white plastic cushion. Or does the plastic cushion need to be removed?

I've checked out the manual you linked to, it says:

Support for the following dual-storage conƭgurations:
1 TB 7200 rpm, 9.5 mm hard drive with 256 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 solid state drive
1 TB 7200 rpm, 9.5 mm hard drive with 128 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 solid state drive

Does this mean 256 GB is the maximum it supports, and will simply refuse to work with anything higher?

I'm looking at two Samsung SSD NVMe options:
Solid-State Drive Samsung 970 EVO 250GB, M.2 NVMe, MZ-V7E250BW

Solid-State Drive Samsung 970 PRO, 512GB, M.2 NVMe, MZ-V7P512BW

I'd obviously prefer the larger one if it would work.

I also have a HP option:

SSD HP SSD EX900 500GB, M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe, 2100/1500 MB/s, 3D NAND TLC

Maybe the fact that it's HP might increase the likelyhood it's compatible?
