I have a gaming laptop it is hp pavilion 15 ec-0101ax
It is supposed to be a very good laptop with amd Ryzen 5 and nvidia GTX 1650 and 8 gb ram. But when play fortnite the laptop has a lot of fram drops and it completely freezes. I think this might be due to low ram storage so for my question " can I use any 8 gb ram stick and add it to the empty slot or are there any compatibility issues ??"

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06619143
1. RAM: it has 8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) now and supports 32GB (2 x 16GB). You can upgrade to
(a) 16GB: add same 8GB to slot 2 or using the following compatible RAM:
https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct8g4sfs824a/ct16164507
(b) 32GB: install 16GB each to both slots using the following compatible RAM:
https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4sfd8266/ct16164502
(RAM will run @ 2400MHz)
Regards.

It isnt due to the RAM incapabilities or insufficiency. It is because you might have updated your bios recently to F.08. Please check. If it is so then it is faulty and have been causing issues to a lot of people. Just check other forums

Press win + R, type in "msinfo32".
If it is F.08 that should be the issue else you should take it to the service centre ( the former is more likely to be the case imo ).
You cannot rectify anything. We all are going through the issue and waiting for a fix or a new bios update.
HP has let everyone down this time.
