Victus Gaming Laptop

My brand new Victus gaming laptop now had a touchpad that seems to be permanently pressed in. So I cannot navigate they screen without click dragging the whole thing. Next, I am unable to add my laptop as a device on HP support so I can chat with someone about what to do next. says my product ID # is incorrect, not sure what that means.

Hi @Maxamus33,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Victus gaming laptop's touchpad may be stuck or malfunctioning. Here's how you can troubleshoot the issue.

Restart the Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

Check Touchpad Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
  • Ensure that the touchpad is enabled.
  • Adjust the sensitivity to a lower setting if it's set too high, which may help with accidental clicks.

Update or Roll Back Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select Device Manager).
  • Locate Mice and other pointing devices and check for the touchpad driver.
  • Right-click it and choose Update Driver to check for the latest version.
  • If the issue started after a driver update, you can roll back the driver to the previous version.

Disable and Re-enable the Touchpad:

  • In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad driver and choose Disable.
  • Restart your laptop and then Enable the touchpad again.

Check for Physical Obstructions: Ensure nothing is physically blocking the touchpad or causing it to be pressed, such as dirt or debris.

Use External Mouse: If the touchpad is unusable, you can connect an external mouse temporarily.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
