I'm seriously doubting if i can use a laptop docking station with my laptop (Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0573nd). Can I use a HP Docking Station G5 or G4 to connect with my laptop through USB-C? And will it also charge? And if charching is not an option, is it possible to connect it with a dock but charge it the normal way with the adapter.

Hi @ProfKrantenwijk

Yes, you can use a laptop docking station with your HP Victus 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop (15-fb0573nd) model. HP docking stations, such as the HP Docking Station G5 or G4, can connect with laptops that have USB-C ports.

Connecting Through USB-C

  • USB-C Compatibility: The HP Victus 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop supports USB Type-C connections, which allows you to use docking stations with USB-C ports.
  • USB-C Docking Stations: You can connect the laptop to the docking station through a USB Type-C port. To enable charging via the docking station, ensure that your Victus model supports "power over USB Type-C." If charging through USB-C is not supported, you will need to use the laptop's AC adapter for charging.

Charging Options

  • Alternatives for Charging: If the docking station doesn’t charge your laptop, it is still possible to connect the docking station for peripherals, data transfer, and display purposes while charging the laptop via its standard AC adapter. This will ensure that your laptop remains powered and the docking station functions correctly.

Additional Information

  • External Devices: While connected to the docking station, you can also attach external devices to the ports available on both the docking station and the computer.
  • Performance: Using the docking station offers the convenience of connecting multiple peripherals and creating a more versatile workspace setup.

To ensure compatibility, it’s also a good idea to check with HP support or verify using the docking station’s specifications on HP's official website.
