Hello all,
I'm helping my sister get started with her gaming laptop, but she (and I) noticed that it won't take a charge.
Pressing the power button will yield the charging light blinking three times (as in, low battery) and that's about all I can get from the computer.
So far, I've tried using different outlets and I've tried power-cycling the computer (disconnecting the battery and holding down the power button for 15 or more seconds). Is there anything else I can try? Could this be an issue with the computer itself or just the power brick?
Thanks in advance for your help!

@mrjoey98, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Charging issues with HP Victus laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like a power-related issue, and you've already done some good troubleshooting steps. Here are a few more things to try:
Check the Charger & Power Brick
- Inspect the power adapter and cable: Look for any frays, bends, or damage.
- Test another compatible charger: If you have access to another HP charger with the same voltage and wattage, try using it.
Verify the Charging Port
- Check for debris or damage: Use a flashlight to inspect the charging port for dust, lint, or bent pins.
- Try wiggling the charger: If the charging light flickers, the port might be loose.
Battery & Power Reset
- Since you've already tried power cycling, try this instead:
- Remove the battery (if removable)
- Hold the power button for 60 seconds
- Reconnect the battery and charger
- Try turning it on again
Look for Charging Light Behavior
- A blinking light usually indicates a battery issue.
- Different blink patterns can mean different things. If you see a specific pattern (e.g., 3 slow blinks, then 2 fast blinks), refer to the HP blink code documentation.
Try a Hard Reset
- Disconnect everything (charger, external devices, peripherals).
- Hold the power button for at least 30 seconds.
- Reconnect only the charger and try powering it on.
Check for BIOS Updates (if it boots)
- If you get it to power on, updating the BIOS may help with power management issues.
Let me know what happens after these steps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
