All of sudden my hp pavillion laptops charging port stopped working. I took it to hp care center they mentioned needs to be shown to hp authorised service I did the same. They kept my laptop for 2-3 days by telling that we have ordered charging port once its available we will replace and call you back. After a week they called back and informed me that motherboard itself is gone so it will cost you approx 35-40k INR.  Instead you get that exchanged for good value. They guided me to hp authorised dealer near by. They said exchange price is 5k we will give offer and overall cost will be 70k for 80k laptop. I said I want ssd they agreed to give ssd. Later I realised it's scam they want people to buy new laptop because of their manufacturing problem. Can someone advice what the next step?

Hi @marutiskutre,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience.

I understand how frustrating this situation must feel, especially when you're faced with unexpected repair costs. From what you've described, it sounds like the HP Authorized Service Center followed the correct protocol by initially attempting a charging port replacement and later identifying a deeper issue with the motherboard.

While I completely understand your concern, I assure you that HP’s authorized technicians are trained to diagnose hardware issues thoroughly and provide transparent guidance. In some cases, what initially appears to be a minor issue like a charging port failure may turn out to be a symptom of a more serious problem, like damage to the power delivery components on the motherboard.

That said, I’d love to better understand what made you feel that the situation might be a scam. Was it something specific in the communication or the way the exchange offer was presented?

We’re always here to help and ensure that you’re receiving fair, clear, and trustworthy service.

Looking forward to your response so we can support you further.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Looking at other complaints i feel this is known issue and warants recall. But HP is hiding from this situation and not supporting their customers. I can give a example I have samsung laptop up and running from last 15yrs though the OS is outdated it still runs. But within 3 years HP laptop all of sudden stopped working. What do you suggest customer to do in such cases.?
