I have hp victus gaming laptop 16-s0xxx......from past 3 months I have been facing some issues regarding the constant flickering of whole system and display. Sometimes it gets automatically turned off and doesn't turn ON unless I disconnect the battery and RAM ...and reinstall it . No issue have been observed in the display. Although the displayed temperature is in normal range yet the signs are of over-heating. I have already got the thermal paste replaced 2 times and it doesn't show any kind of improvements. I am in a desparate need of help as i am a student and I don't have any other system to work on.

Hi @Ankur09,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.
To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?
- Does the flickering happen all the time or only when running certain programs or games?
- Have you noticed any unusual noises from the fans or the laptop heating up despite normal temperature readings?
- When it shuts down and only powers on after disconnecting the battery and RAM, does it show any error lights or beeps?
- Have you updated your graphics drivers, BIOS, and Windows recently?
In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Check for driver issues: Update your GPU drivers (both integrated and dedicated) and ensure Windows updates are fully installed. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause flickering.
- Run a hardware diagnostic: HP laptops often have a built-in hardware diagnostic tool (press ESC during boot → F2 System Diagnostics) to check RAM, CPU, and GPU for faults.
- Check display settings: Make sure the refresh rate matches the laptop display (usually 60Hz or 144Hz depending on the model).
- Safe Mode test: Boot into Safe Mode. If the flickering stops there, it might be a software or driver issue rather than hardware.
- Reseat components carefully: Since you mentioned removing and reinstalling RAM helps temporarily, one of the RAM sticks or slots could be loose or faulty. If possible, test each stick individually.
I hope this helps.
