Hello @LongBrancher

Please post the Product number so we know exactly what you have.

Its found in the HP Support Assistant. Click on your PC and the Product number will show either on top or bottom of the window.

The product number is 15-dc1088wm

It's a Omen By HP 15-dc1088wm

That series does come with 2.5inch HDDs installed. If your particular model did not, you can still add one, either a traditional HDD or a newer Sata 2.5 inch SSD (recommended).

BUT the problem is that usually with HP, if it did not come from the factory already preinstalled, the cable and brackets will be missing. You would have to open the case and look to make sure.

If its not there, the part numbers are.....

Hard drive cable connector  929450-001

Hard drive brackets  929561-001

They can be ordered from the HP Parts surfer, but only if those parts are available in what ever country you live in.

The HP website if having problems at the moment, or I would post the Manual for you too.  Sorry.

It only came with 256gb of ssd and that's it so I can put a hdd or a sshd or even a another ssd in it any of the 3 if so what parts do I need for a sshd and or ssd?

On the part surfer it only has dc1088nr model but not mine the dc1088wm?

Ya and I cannot pull up the HP specs page at the moment as the HP servers are down temporarily.

But it wont matter. The DC1000 series will be the same as far as the drives are concerned and what can be used.

So I would go for a straight 2.5 inch Sata SSD if you can, but any SSD or HDD will work.

The brand is not an issue now days, so go for a good brand name that has a good warranty and what you can afford.

Samsung is great, but probably the most expensive. Crucial MX 500s are great, so it Sandisk. IF you have a question about one, post its number and Ill look it up.

The parts for the connector and cable that I posted above earlier will be the same for any 2.5 inch drive HDD or SSD. They mount exactly the same. The only difference in the HDD is you cannot go over 2TB usually because larger capacity HDDs are more than 9 mm thick and will be too thick to fit.  Any SSD will fit just fine.

Oh okay the sata ssd are the sshd's? And I would just need to get the bracket and cable that's you provided and it would work a sshd is still a hdd but it's faster then a hdd but not faster then a ssd because imma get a sshd just to have that faster speed since ssds cost so much
