OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-b0000 (2W6B1AV)

Hello, i own a HP omen 16-b0509la and after updating the BIOS to the lastest version F.51, my dedicated GPU (RTX 3060) is recognized by the syste, but is not being used.

*windosws detects the GPU, but games and applications defaults back to the intel UHD Graphics.

*performance is degraded, with FPS dropping and GPU usage showing as 0%

Steps i already tried:

1.-Reset the BIOS

2. switch between Hybrid and discrete Graphics mode in Bios.

3. Reflashed the same Bios version again.

5. completeky removed intel and nvidia Drivers with DDU and reinstalled them (intel first then nvidia- Nvidia first then intel) using official Hp Drivers

6.tested both Hp provided drivers and nvidia latest drivers

7.Forced high performance Gpu in windows graphics settings and nvidia control panel.

8.disable intel GPU in Device Manager to force only the RTX.

9.Checked with omen Gaming Hub (and even  uninstalled it to avoid conflicts).

10. tried different power settings (high Performance mode, always conected to AC).

Despite all these steps, the problem persists The dGPU is visible but is not being engaged correctly.

This issue started immediately after updating the BIOS, so i strongly suspect the new BIOS firmware broke the GPU switching on my laptop. Before the update the RTX worked fine.

Please, does anyone know if there is a way to roll back the bios to a previos version (i tried downloading an older version, but doesn´t let me install it because its outdated. it only allows me to install a newer one.) or if HP is preparing a update to fix this problem.

Hi @PEPPERON1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Omen 16-b0509la RTX 3060 is detected but not being used after the BIOS update. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check Graphics Mode: In BIOS, toggle between Hybrid and Discrete GPU modes, save, and restart.

Reset BIOS to Defaults: Ensure all BIOS settings are default after the update.

Verify Windows GPU Settings: Set high-performance GPU for games in Windows Graphics settings and NVIDIA Control Panel.

Reinstall Drivers: Use DDU to remove Intel and NVIDIA drivers, then reinstall HP official drivers (Intel first, NVIDIA second).

Disable Intel GPU: Temporarily disable in Device Manager to test if RTX engages.

Update NVIDIA Firmware: Check NVIDIA GeForce Experience for firmware updates.

Check Power & Performance Settings: Ensure laptop is on AC power and high-performance mode.

I hope this helps.
