I purchased the Black Friday Walmart HP special; The HP Gaming Laptop - 15-dk0068wm
I have been trying to run UserBenchmark to see how tough it is and I continue to get a Direct 3D error (screen shot attached)
Did not expect this error since
1) it is a gaming laptop
2) It has Intel UHD 630 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 3gb graphics.
Laptop is completely updated - OS, Drivers and BIOS
Any ideas?
Thanks

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
We haven't got the screenshot. Please send it again.
Meanwhile download and run DirectX: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34429
Let me know if this helps.

I suggest we reinstall the direct X using the below steps to resolve this issue with the error message:
1. Go here, click on Download and follow the onscreen instructions to download the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer.
2. Once the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer has been downloaded, navigate to where you saved it and run it.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions, and the downloaded installer will unpack all of the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer‘s files and place them in a directory of your choosing.
4. Navigate to the folder you had the downloaded installer unpack the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer‘s files to, locate a file named DXSETP.exe and double-click on it to run it.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions and prompts to get through the wizard, at the end of which the DirectX on your computer will be successfully repaired/reinstalled.
Once the repair installation is done and dusted, you are free to delete the folder full of the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer’s files created by the installer you downloaded off Microsoft’s website.
Let me know if this helps.

@pmshop Does the issue occur only while doing the benchmark, if yes, the issue could be related to the tool being used to benchmark, also, I must let you know that HP neither supports nor recommends using 3rd party programs to benchmark our device as it may be inaccurate and cause issues as the one you are encountering,
If the issue persists, please contact the application manufacturer for support.
I hope that helps!
Have a good day, ahead.

I have contacted userbenchmark and waiting a reply.
I understand the recommendations of HP as I used to be 3LS Houston.
Point being, userbenchmark is one, if not the best service out there to bench a unit.
It just concerns me it does not find a compatible Direct3D device for a gaming computer.

I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to Remote into your computer and sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
- Note: HP does not recommend to use Third-party measuring apps as they are not tested by HP and may not be accurate.

I got a partial UserBenchmark to run.
But I had to connect an external monitor to do so.
Partial because it will not run the SSD test.
And with this config says it cannot find a monitor attached to the Intel UHD 630.
So now I ask this, how in the world can this be a gaming laptop when there is no connection from the Nvidia GeForce 1050 to the computer screen?
You have to connect an external monitor to the laptop for gaming speeds because the Intel 630 is not gaming quality.
Is this the intended design?
If so, how is that "mobile gaming" when an external monitor is required???
