Omen by hp 15-dc1093tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I had ordered the HP Omen 15-dc1093TX just yesterday from Croma(offline). It will take about 10 days for them to ship it to my city.

The Thunderbolt 3 port is very important to me so I was naturally very impressed when I discovered that I'll be getting one if I buy this model.

Now, the problem starts with the salesman, he had told me that this laptop DOES NOT have the Thunderbolt 3 port but after about 5 minutes he assured me that he had gotten confused and that this model DOES HAVE a Thunderbolt 3 port. By now, I was getting really worried as this is an expensive laptop so I decided to check this model (dc1093tx) online on HP. The information was disappointing to say the least as it said that this model does not have the Thunderbolt 3 port(I have added the link). But still, I was not deterred and decided to check with the HP offline

store, the store clerk had also confirmed that this model does not have a Thunderbolt 3 port but he also cross checked with his manager. After confirming with his manager, the clerk tells me that this model HAS a thunderbolt 3 Port.

You see the problem here, I really respect HP and that's the reason I'm even buying from here but I really need to know if this model has a  thunderbolt 3 port or not. I had googled this question  before posting it here and discovered that many people face the same problem with their respective Omen or Spectre models.According to some, HP sometimes just gives the symbol of thunderbolt 3 port but does not actually give the port with their laptops. I would really appreciate it if the HP support could tell me if they do give the thunderbolt 3 port with this model.

Thank you.

Hello @Satyam7166,

The OMEN by HP 15-dc1093tx DOES have a Thunderbolt 3 port. Specs here. Just keep in mind that the Thunderbolt 3 port doesn't support PowerDelivery meaning it cannot be charged with a USB-C charger. This is kinda obvious because the computer is shipped with a 150W AC adapter while PD supports a max of 100W.

There are a couple of reasons why people get confused.

In this specific series, there are two variants. One with a Thunderbolt 3 port and one with a USB-C port with HP Sleep and Charge. A lot of the ads that people point out misrepresent the variant with a plain USB-C port.

Another problem is that HP decided to brand HP Sleep and Charge (technology allowing the computer to supply power to other devices such as a phone even during sleep) with a logo extremely similar to Thunderbolt 3.

It's a bit hard to see, but left is HP Sleep and Charge while right is Thunderbolt 3.

Hope that helps.

Does it support omen accelerator?

Hello @KarthickDeath,

Yes, it should support the OMEN Accelerator as long as you install the proper Thunderbolt 3 drivers and you install the OMEN Accelerator application.

I currently own the OMEN Accelerator and find it to be a great accessory.
