Microsoft Windows 11

For a little while now my E key has only worked intermittently. The problem is especially present if I stop typing for a while. The E key will take several presses until it starts working again (3-100+). Typically after it begins working, it will continue to work until I stop typing. Drivers and BIOS are up to date.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details of your OMEN Transcend 14 laptop issue. I understand how disruptive it must feel when the E key intermittently fails, especially after a pause in typing, forcing you to press it multiple times before it responds. It must be quite frustrating to experience this disruption in what should be smooth, seamless typing.

Since you’ve already ensured that your BIOS and drivers are up to date, we can now explore both software and hardware possibilities to pinpoint the root cause.

Here are some steps you can try:

  1. Check Keyboard Function via On-Screen Keyboard:

    • Open the On-Screen Keyboard (Press Windows + Ctrl + O) and test typing “E.”

    • If it works fine there, the issue is likely hardware-related rather than software.

  2. Clean the Keyboard Mechanically:

    • Sometimes dust or debris can interfere with a key’s responsiveness.

    • Gently clean around the E key using compressed air or a soft brush.

  3. Keyboard Driver Reset:

    • Open Device ManagerKeyboards → Right-click your keyboard → Uninstall device → Restart your laptop.

    • Windows will reinstall the driver automatically, which can help reset intermittent key behavior.

  4. Check for External Software Conflicts:

    • If you have keyboard remapping tools or certain gaming software, temporarily disable them to see if the key behavior changes.

  5. Hardware Check:

    • If the problem persists, it may indicate a faulty keyboard mechanism. Please run a hardware diagnosis test to confirm the faulty hardware.

I hope these steps help restore smooth typing on your laptop. If the key continues to behave intermittently
