Hi @Mawiakahi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your laptop is vibrating more than usual or making grinding or buzzing noises, it’s likely related to the cooling fan system. Here’s how to troubleshoot it safely and effectively:

Step 1: Power Down and Inspect

If the vibration is strong or the noise is loud:

  • Shut down your laptop immediately.
  • Unplug the charger and any peripherals.
  • Let the laptop cool down before proceeding.

Step 2: Check for Physical Obstructions

  • Use a flashlight to peek into the air vents.
  • Look for dust builduploose wires, or foreign objects.
  • If you're comfortable, you can remove the back panel and inspect the fan directly (only if your warranty allows it).

Step 3: Clean the Vents

  • Use compressed air to blow out dust from the vents.
  • Avoid using a vacuum directly on the laptop.

Step 4: Perform a Soft Reset

Sometimes, fan control glitches can cause erratic behavior:

  1. Disconnect all power.
  2. Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  3. Reconnect and boot into BIOS (press F10 during startup).
  4. Wait and observe if the fan still vibrates—if yes, it’s likely hardware-related.

Step 5: Run HP Diagnostics

  1. On startup, press Esc, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  2. Run the Fan Test under “Component Tests”.

Step 6: Update BIOS and Firmware

  • Visit HP Support.
  • Enter your product number (found on the bottom of your laptop or in BIOS).
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and firmware updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
