If the Free Xbox Game Pass offer in the HP Omen Gaming Hub isn't working on your Victus 16, and clicking "START FREE TRIAL" opens the Xbox app without initiating the trial, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Step 1: Check Eligibility and Account Requirements
- Ensure Eligibility: Confirm that your device is eligible for the free Xbox Game Pass offer. Some promotions have specific conditions such as being valid for new Xbox Game Pass subscribers only.
- Check Microsoft Account: Ensure you are logged into the Xbox app with the correct Microsoft account that hasn’t already redeemed a similar offer.
Step 2: Update Software and Apps
- Update HP Omen Gaming Hub:
- Open the Microsoft Store, go to Library, and click Get updates to update all apps, including the HP Omen Gaming Hub.
- Update Xbox App:
- Ensure the Xbox app is up-to-date via the Microsoft Store as well.
- Update Windows:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update, and make sure your system is running the latest updates.
Step 3: Reset the Xbox App
- Reset Xbox App:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
- Find the Xbox app, click on it, and select Advanced options.
- Click Reset. This will reset the app without affecting your data.
Step 4: Clear Microsoft Store Cache
- Clear Cache:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type wsreset.exe and press Enter. This will clear the Microsoft Store cache and might resolve issues with app connectivity.

Step 5: Reinstall Xbox App and Gaming Services
Uninstall Xbox App:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
- Find and uninstall the Xbox app.
Reinstall the Xbox App:
- Reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.
Reinstall Gaming Services:
Step 6: Try to Redeem from Another Device or Browser
- Redeem Offer via Browser:
- Go to the Xbox Game Pass official website using a web browser and try to redeem the trial offer from there.
- Use Another Device:
- If possible, try redeeming the offer on another compatible device logged into the same Microsoft account.
If none of the above steps work, it might be a promotional issue on the backend.
