OMEN by HP Laptop 1HQ29PA#ACJ
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Getting very low fps while playing CSGO. Usually I should get 250+ fps but getting constant 60 fps even in plugged in state. Have done all updates, contacted HP support in India several times, but they just told me to update the firmware or the NVIDIA graphics driver.
here's a catch, instantly after updating the firmware and restarting the laptop, when I ran the game, it ran smoothly with 250+ fps. But after shutting down the laptop and then powering it on the next day and running CSGO, again I'm facing the same issue(constant 60 fps).

well.......I'm afraid that windows game bar solution proved useless. I has already seen that while ransacking google for a solution.

Good new is that a streamer from my city had bought the same laptop and had posted on social media. He had a great deal of knowledge on these things and surprisingly he had also faced the same problem and had also found out a  hack for this issue :D. He sent me these and after going through these procedures my issues  were fixed.  Never  felt happier 😄 😄 😄9DE68364-4E66-43C0-BB67-92E9DD02191A.png81AC21AF-9D18-4BA7-8B51-9C7A20DF571A.png

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I understand you have low FPS issues on your HP Omen,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you change the performance settings on your laptop?

If not, here's a few things you can do:

Right-click your desktop background and select NVIDIA Control Panel. You can also find this tool by performing a Start menu (or Start screen) search for NVIDIA Control Panel or by right-clicking the NVIDIA icon in your system tray and selecting Open NVIDIA Control Panel.

To quickly set a system-wide preference, you could use the Adjust image settings with the preview option. For example, if you have old hardware that struggles to play the games you want to play, you may want to select “Use my preference emphasizing” and move the slider all the way to “Performance.” This trades graphics quality for an increased frame rate.

By default, the “Use the advanced 3D image settings” option is selected. You can select Manage 3D settings and change advanced settings for all programs on your computer or just for specific games. NVIDIA keeps a database of the optimal settings for various games, but you’re free to tweak individual settings here. Just mouse-over an option for an explanation of what it does.

If you have a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus technology — that is, both NVIDIA and Intel graphics — this is the same place you can choose which applications will use the NVIDIA hardware and which will use the Intel hardware.

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

See, I don't have any old hardware or anything, my laptop is brand new, and I have an 150W adapter. I have checked the NVIDIA control panel settings and have checked settings it on auto and forced 'use NVIDIA Graphics' . Well I can see that my GPU is processing those games in task manager but aim still getting constant 60 fps whereas I should have got 250+ fps(in CSGO).

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

I appreciate the details and to verify, did you check with an alternate adapter or if the FPS increases without the adapter (on battery)?

While you respond to that, here's a few more things that should help:

The best way to do that is using the HP Guided Troubleshooter:

Click here to access it (simply select your description of the issue from the bottom of the screen to gain access to the next set of steps that should resolve your concern).

Have a great day!

Without adapter I get constant 30 fps, with adapter normally I should get 250+ fps, but something is blocking that and I'm getting 60 fps constant. And also a new heating problem has arrived.

Yeah, I've contacted HP support and asked for a technician visit. They will send an agent soon. 👍

Hi,

as @Riddle_Decipher is out of the office today, I'm replying to you.

I'm glad to hear a technician is visiting your place to get the issue examined. However, feel free to keep us posted for any further queries.

All the best! 🙂

Had a technician visit twice. Issue still not fixed. Tried a whole lot of things including factory reset, BIOS reset & update, and all component update , but the issue is still there. The game works just fine after doing each of the above mentioned things and also after 'restarting' the system. But 'shutting down the laptop and then powering it on there's tthis same error. The game is stuck at 60 fps because of which I'm unable to play the game freely(Counter Strike Global Offensive).

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

Normally, if the tech visit isn't fruitful, the next step is to send the device to HP,

For a thorough check on your PC by the HP service center team.

Let me know how that pans out

feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon,

followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution' as it would help the community gain more knowledge,

And Have a great day Ahead!
