Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (599K0AV)

Hi everyone,

I’m using an HP Victus 15-fa555TX, and I’ve been facing two issues recently:

  1. Fans running at full speed all the time:
From the moment I turn on the laptop, both fans spin at maximum speed, even when the system is idle and GPU isn’t being used. This started happening after I gave the laptop for service, so I’m wondering if something might have been reconnected wrong inside (like a fan cable or sensor?).

  2. BIOS update not working:

    • My current BIOS version is F.26, but HP’s site shows F.29 as the latest.

    • I tried updating it through the .exe file from HP, and also tried using a USB with the BIOS recovery tool.

    • I followed all the correct steps (formatted USB as FAT32, used Windows+B at startup), but the update keeps failing.

    • I also ran full hardware diagnostics (including system board and fan tests), and everything passed.

I’ve tried a lot – uninstalling and reinstalling system firmware, checking BIOS settings, running HP diagnostics, and creating a BIOS recovery USB – but nothing has fixed it.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi @Sanjay0091,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out regarding the issues you're experiencing with your HP Victus 15-fa555TX laptop. We understand how concerning it can be to encounter persistent fan noise and BIOS update challenges. Let's address each issue step by step.

Step 1: Clean the Air Vents

Dust accumulation can impede airflow, causing fans to run continuously.

  1. Power Off: Shut down your laptop and disconnect all cables.
  2. Locate Vents: Identify the air intake and exhaust vents, typically found on the sides or bottom of the laptop.
  3. Clean Vents:
    • Use a can of compressed air to blow out dust from the vents.
    • Hold the can upright and use short bursts to avoid moisture buildup.
  4. Internal Cleaning (Optional):
    • If comfortable, remove the bottom panel to access internal components.
    • Use compressed air to clean internal fans and heat sinks.
    • Ensure all internal connections, especially fan cables, are secure.

Step 2: Update BIOS to Version F.29:

Updating the BIOS can resolve hardware compatibility issues and improve system stability.

  1. Prepare for Update:
    • Ensure your laptop is connected to a reliable power source.
    • Close all running applications.
  2. Install BIOS Update:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

@Sanjay0091, I see you were interacting with @VikramTheGreat however, he's away for now and I'd love to help you out

Thanks for your update and for sharing the screenshot — that helps a lot.

The error you're seeing indicates there's not enough free disk space on your system drive (likely your C: drive) to complete the BIOS update. Even though it may seem like BIOS updates are small, they require temporary working space during installation.

Here's what you can do:

🧹 Free Up Disk Space:

Empty the Recycle Bin

Delete temporary files:
Open Run (Win + R) > type cleanmgr > select C: > clean up system files.

Uninstall unused apps or large files from your Downloads folder or Desktop.

Once you've cleared at least 1–2 GB of space, try running the BIOS update .exe again as Administrator.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
