Recently, I got my HP Victus fixed after it suddenly turned off while restarting during Windows update and didn't turn on at all. The repairman said it was a CPU problem. However, after repairing the fans are not behaving as expected as they are not reacting to temperatures as aggressively as before and the idle temperature has increased as well and upon checking the Event Viewer I got this warning:
The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load.
Device: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A71D&SUBSYS_8BC8103C&REV_00\3&11583659&2&20
Status: 0xC0000365
Upon further checking, through the Device Manager I found out that this device is Intel Innovation Platform Framework Processor Participant Driver which is responsible for thermal related stuffs including fan control . In the Device Manager it is indicating that this device is working properly and I have updated drivers related to it from the official site as well. Still the fans are not behaving properly. What must
I do?

Hi @Hllowrlddd
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your HP Victus laptop's fan behavior and encountering warnings in the Event Viewer related to a driver problem. Here’s how you can address these issues:
Troubleshoot the Fan Behavior
BIOS Update: Ensure that your BIOS is up-to-date. Manufacturers sometimes release updates that improve thermal management and fan control.
HP Command Center: If available, use the HP Command Center or OMEN Gaming Hub to adjust the thermal profile or fan settings.
Check for Dust: Make sure the fans and vents are not clogged with dust, which can affect cooling efficiency.
Thermal Paste: If your laptop was repaired, ensure that the thermal paste was properly applied between the CPU and the heatsink.
Addressing the Event Viewer Warning
Driver Reinstallation: Reinstall the chipset drivers for your device. The error indicates an issue with the driver for a PCI device, likely related to Intel components.
Windows Update: Run Windows Update to ensure you have the latest system and driver updates. Outdated drivers can cause hardware to behave unpredictably.
Device Manager Check:
- Open Device Manager and look for any devices with a yellow triangle, indicating a driver issue.
- Right-click on the device to update the driver automatically.
Driver Support from HP: Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your model. Use HP Support Assistant to scan for driver updates.
Exclude the Device from Power Management:
- In Device Manager, go to the properties of the device (if identified).
- Under the Power Management tab, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

Hey! I have tried everything. BIOS is up to date. Windows is also up to date including all the drivers but still the problem persists. On top of that I am facing another problem in which some of the sites can't be accessed even when I am connected to internet. So what can I do?

Thanks for troubleshooting; I appreciate all your efforts and patience!!
I can imagine how exhausting it must be to chase down a fix when things just won’t behave. Let’s tackle both the fan issue and the strange website access problem together.
🌀 Fan Behavior Still Off? Try These Advanced Steps
Since BIOS, Windows, and drivers are all up to date, and the Intel Innovation Platform Framework Processor Participant driver appears “OK” in Device Manager, here’s what else you can try:
Reset Thermal Configuration via BIOS
- Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
- Look for any thermal or fan-related settings. If available, reset them to default.
- Save and exit.
Check HP Command Center or OMEN Gaming Hub
- Open the app and switch to Performance Mode or Custom Fan Curve if available.
- If the fan curve is flat or minimal, try increasing the slope to make fans respond more aggressively to rising temps.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)
- Restart and press ESC, then F2 to launch diagnostics.
- Run the Fan Test and Thermal Test under Component Tests.
- This can help detect if the fan controller is misbehaving post-repair.
Reapply Thermal Paste (if repair was recent)
- If the CPU was replaced or reseated, improper thermal paste application could cause heat buildup.
- A technician may need to recheck this physically.
🌐 Websites Not Loading Despite Internet Access?
This sounds like a DNS or security-layer issue. Let’s walk through a few fixes:
Flush DNS Cache
- Open Command Prompt as admin and run:
ipconfig /flushdns
Change DNS Servers
- Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
- Right-click your active connection > Properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
- Use these DNS servers:
- Preferred: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate: 1.1.1.1
Disable HTTPS Scanning in Antivirus
- Some antivirus tools interfere with secure site access.
- Temporarily disable HTTPS scanning and test the sites again.
Try Safe Mode with Networking
- Restart and press F8 or use msconfig to boot into Safe Mode with Networking.
- See if the sites load—this helps isolate software conflicts.
Check Hosts File
- Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts.
- Open with Notepad and ensure no websites are being redirected or blocked.
Let’s keep pushing forward. You’re doing great, and we’ll get this sorted! 💪
