Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Here i go so i  have bought the Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0xxx about one year ago and ever since my warranty expired, I've been getting constant fps drops and fps studders in any game and i have no idea what's causing this. I would really like to have this issue fixed so i can get back to smooth sailing with my gaming experience. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Auqa2000,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the FPS drops and stutters on your Victus by HP Gaming Laptop.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can use NVIDIA GeForce Experience or manually download drivers from NVIDIA's website.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your Windows is fully updated, as updates can improve system stability and performance.

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Set your laptop to "High Performance" in the power settings. This can prevent power-saving features from affecting your gaming performance.

Manage Background Processes:

  • Close unnecessary applications running in the background that might consume CPU or memory resources.

Check for Thermal Throttling:

  • Use monitoring software (like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner) to check CPU and GPU temperatures. Overheating can cause performance drops.
  • Clean out any dust from vents and fans, and consider using a cooling pad.

Adjust In-Game Settings:

  • Lower graphical settings in games to reduce the load on your GPU and CPU.

Scan for Malware:

  • Run a full system scan with Windows Defender or a trusted antivirus program to rule out malware.

Reinstall the Game:

  • Sometimes reinstalling the game can resolve performance issues related to corrupted game files.

Use Game Mode:

  • Enable Windows Game Mode to optimize system resources for gaming.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
