OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-xf0000 (758R4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have an issue with my gaming laptop. I had a first problem when it more or less suddenly stopped working, I couldn't turn on my computer anymore, even when the charger was  plugged-in. I suspect the issue being the motherboard or something like that overheated and it just crashed down, not working anymore (I am not very knowledgeable about computer stuffs so I might very well be wrong on several aspects).

I only had the laptop for one and a half year, a 2000€ computer should not have issues like this after a so short lifetime. So I contacted the HP repair service and it took more than a month in order to pick up my computer which is very long (especially considering I absolutely need a computer to work so I had to lend another laptop with my own money even though it was not my fault if the service was so slow, so it would quite good and a given that I get a refund, I have the bills ready if needed).

After the repair service done, they sent it back to me and now I do have new issues. My laptop tends to be quite hot even though I'm not doing something asking that much performance (just watching a YouTube video or Netflix on Chrome make it very hot), and when I play a video game (not a AAA, just a small indie game) with a video on another screen, it easily reaches 85°C to 90°C, which would not happen before, it would be hot, but not that much, and the fans regularly go crazy which did not happen before either. It even turn off or put iitslef into sleep mode. Eventually, the computer being hot with only my browser on leads to another problem, sometimes it would freeze when I want to change tabs which can be pretty annoying.

Should I try sending it again to repair service or is there any other stuff I could do to turn it back to its previous performances ? I would like to add that my drivers are updated.

Thank you all

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with your OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop. It can be frustrating when your device suddenly stops working, and it's important to approach troubleshooting systematically. Here are a few steps you can try to diagnose and possibly resolve the issue:

Power Reset: Sometimes, performing a power reset can resolve hardware issues.

  • Disconnect all peripherals such as external drives, printers, and USB devices.
  • Unplug the charger and remove any detachable battery if possible.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Reconnect the charger and attempt to power on the laptop.

Check Power Supply:

  • Ensure that the charger is plugged into a working electrical outlet.
  • Examine the power cable and charger for any damage.

Inspect for Signs of Life:

  • Observe whether any lights (such as power or charging indicators) appear on the device when plugged in.
  • Listen for any sounds coming from the laptop, like fans or hard drives spinning.

Overheating:

  • If overheating is suspected, ensure the laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface to allow proper airflow.
  • Check vents for blockages and clean them with compressed air if necessary.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
