Hi HP,
I'm a bit confused about the GPU mode. There are 'Hybrid' and 'dGPU' mode in my OGH (BIOS as well). I tried to save some battery life with ECO and Hybrid mode in my OGH. However the battery drained very quickly in about 2hr. I used some app to check the watt of my computer. Unfortunately, my rtx 4060 was running at more than 20w even I didn't do graphic load thing. I also shut down all the NV apps but thing didn't change. It doesn't make sense for a laptop in power saving mode. I was wondering if there is 'iGPU only' mode in the Graphics switcher? I heard that OMEN Transcend 14 supports this option in its OGH. Why don't let Victus or other OMEN model support this feature? Or is there any other way I can really block the dGPU power consume? I believe the MUX hardware should support this switch.
Thank you

Hi @7640h,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Superb description and stupendous diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 😊
I see you are using Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000 (7N3N2AV), I am afraid this model does not support the feature you are looking for.
Also if you have installed the Omen Gaming Hub on your Victus, then I request you to uninstall the same as it could crash the OS.
Hope this answers your query.

The wired thing is that, the 2024 model (8845hs or 8645hs +RTX) provides the feature I want. Because I heard that there is UMA mode in their BIOS (or OGH). The 7840hs is literally same as the 8845hs, and also both motherboards for 7840hs and 8845hs are almost same (same components distribution, only one M.2 slot). It doesn't make any sense that the 2023 model doesn't suppport this feature. I think the two graphics&three mode is the basic feature for any laptop with dGPU in modern 2024. What's worse, when I was setting the battery-saving mode (windows system setting), hybird mode and eco mode (OGH) without the charger pluged in, anything saving the battery life, the dGPU is still running at 2250Mhz (not consistantly, but keep off and on 2250MHz even no software, and my Nvidia control panel also shows there is no program running on the dGPU) then the dGPU costs 20w+ consistantly, only 2 hours battery as a result. Something funny is that things get better when the charger is in. The dGPU just runs at 210Mhz and never jumps to max frequency except I use graphic-need software. Why can't HP open iGPU mode feature for this model to make things easier?

Thanks for getting back.
Commendable diagnosis, superb troubleshooting, and splendid description of the issue before posting. Hats off to you on that score. 😊
I wish I could have assisted you with this regard; however, as an HP employee, I am not authorized to provide steps that are not proven officially with your laptop model.
Thanks for understanding.
