Hello everyone!
So I have a HP Victus with Ryzen 5 5600h and GTX 1650,
My question is that should I keep the charged plugged in even if the battery has reached 99% while gaming?
or
Should I keep on connecting and disconnecting the charger when I get chance to get the maximum performance while gaming?
I'm worried if my battery will swollen if I kept playing on while the battery is connected to charger and has reached 99%.

Hi @Jatin_yadu25,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Modern laptops are designed with built-in mechanisms to protect the battery from overcharging, so leaving your laptop plugged in while gaming at 99% charge is generally safe. The laptop will typically stop charging the battery once it reaches its full capacity, and the power will be drawn directly from the AC adapter to power the laptop.
The concern about a battery swelling or being damaged by overcharging is less relevant with today's lithium-ion batteries. They have built-in protection circuits that manage the charging process and help prevent overcharging. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that keeping your laptop plugged in all the time may contribute to a slight reduction in overall battery lifespan over an extended period. This is because lithium-ion batteries degrade over time, and usage (charge and discharge cycles) is one of the factors that can affect their lifespan.
If you're primarily using your laptop as a gaming machine and it's always connected to power, it's generally okay. However, if you plan to use the laptop on battery power frequently, it's good to occasionally let the battery discharge to around 20-30% and then recharge it to help with battery calibration.
In summary, for your usage scenario (gaming on AC power), leaving your laptop plugged in at 99% charge should not pose a significant risk to the battery. However, for long-term battery health, it's advisable to occasionally use the laptop on battery power and perform full charge-discharge cycles.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you so much for the reply, so lets make this easy to understand to others,
Its safe to keep the AC adapter plugged in even though battery has reached 99% right?
This would not affect the battery. So its completely safe I hope so.
I love HP laptops so much I always care for mine its just 6-7 month old.
Ok let me get back to Minecraft now.
Thank you again.
