OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wd000 (7B9S2AV)

Hello,

I have had this omen laptop for about 2 years with constant issues (about a week after getting the laptop, I needed to reinstall windows via a flash drive because certain power settings were unavailable due to a hardware issue). Now once every few days at minimum my screen with freeze, go black, and it looks like my graphics card will reset or something because the screen flickers back and resets my night light settings (setting is shown as on but the tinting disappears). I have had this happen while playing a game once and the game crashed.

I'm making this post now because I've been trying to play control resonant and I can't play for more than an hour without my screen going black (the game appears on my second monitor but my laptop screen goes black) and after closing the game, my laptop will constantly freeze and flicker and then lock itself every few seconds. This happens until I'm somehow fast enough to restart the computer before it locks again and even then that doesn't fix the issue. I attempted to reboot in safe mode and the screen flickering was still there. I tried to have the laptop troubleshoot itself and fix issues but it said it ran into an issue and couldn't.

I don't know if I got a lemon or something and I definitely should've gone back and asked for a replacement when I was forced to reinstall windows but now I just want to know if there's anything I can do to potentially fix my graphics card (all of my issues are pointing to it being graphics related) or if the laptop is just unfixable without sending it to HP

The spec for your laptop indicates it may use IRIS graphics.

If you have the iris graphics chip then this is the latest driver.

You could also try updating using the intel support assistant.

I see a possible problem:  Your have a fairly recent laptop and it should have factory cloud recovery but it is missing.

Please verify that your product ID is actually 7B9S2AV#ABA

Did you buy the laptop with Windows or with Freedos or some other OS?
