HP OMEN 15-dc0004nq
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello guys. I have a problem with my HP OMEN15-dc0004nq. It's running on HP 84DA (U3E1) motherboard, BIOS F.12. and using a 70070 mW.Hour, 15400 mV battery (SR04070).

After upgrading to Windows 11 and upgrading to a 1TB SSD (I cloned the old SSD) and simply swapped it my battery is acting... funny.

If it's not plugged in, it doesn't boot up (pressing the On button doesn't do anything). One I plug it in Windows shows me a 100% battery that is charging and that's it, HP Hardware Diagnostics shows me the date below. The battery and AC adaptor test are passed.

Physically, the battery is swollen slightly but I don't' se any physical deformation / discoloring / puncturing.

My question is .... How do I fix this ? Do I need to change the battery ? And if so... part number ? I'm from Romania

@Probi

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I understand after Windows 11 update the battery not functioning correctly, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Does the notebook shut down immediately (right after you unplug the charger)?
  • Do you get any error message on your notebook (Such as Plugged in, not charging, etc.)?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

  • 1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.
  • 2. Expand batteries.
  • 3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.
  • 4. Shut down the computer.
  • 5. Disconnect the charger.
  • 6. Remove the battery. (only for removable battery)
  • 7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.
  • 8. Insert the battery only. (only for removable battery)
  • 9. Attempt to turn the battery on.

Note: Windows 11 OS software drivers are not rolled out yet for this model. Refer to the software driver page:Software and drivers for OMEN by HP 15-dc0004nq

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for your reply. Did all of the above. Nothin worked. I ended up ordering a new battery and swapped it out. The battery was always showing me 100% charge, HP Hardware couldn't find anything wrong. That's why I was baffled.
