Hello.
So I have been searching and searching for 3 hours now on how I can change the color of my keyboard on the HP Omen 15-AX033DX. I purchased this from Best Buy today with the impression that I could have the option of changing the keyboard colors. I really don't like the bright red, but I want to have some lights though instead of just completely ignoring such a cool little feature.
Just to make things clear, this laptop came with Windows 10 as I just got it today. Almost all of the forum posts that I've seen regarding this topic are from people who had the windows 8.1 version of the HP Omen, but those don't apply to me.
Anyways, I just don't know what to do.
I already installed the HP Omen Control Software which did not do anything to my keyboard. I even installed the latest HP software event utility from this link that has all of the drivers for my version of the HP Omen:
Thing is, I don't see any driver on that website that allows me to change colors on the keyboard.
Could someone please help me out here?

Hey there!
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!
I understand that you have issues changing color with backlight keyboard.
Try the steps mentioned below.
To customize the lighting zones for a user profile, complete the following steps
To open HP OMEN Control, at the Start screen, type HP Omen Control to open the Search charm. Select HP OMEN Control in the Search results.
Open HP OMEN Control screen
Select the Lighting tab.
On the keyboard image, click the lighting zone you want to customize.
You can also select the lighting zone from the drop-down menu. To do this, click the down arrow in the Center box and select the zone.
To change the zone color, click the color box below Center, select a new color from the color palette, and then click OK.
Repeat these steps for each lighting zone you want to change for each user profile.

Hi, I'm also experiencing the same problem. I have tried downloading the updated driver and software you provided links for, and it still does not work. I can see in the software where you change the color, but it does not change it on the keyboard. Does this particular model for sure support it? Thanks.

Hey there! thanks for the reply.
I checked the specifications of this laptop and found that you don't have an option to change color of backlight keyboard.
The only option is to enable or disable backlight keyboard.
Let me know if you have any queries.
Have a great day!

Hey there @Nujosh!
Thanks for the reply Yes older version of HP Omen had an option of changing backlight color.
However, the newer version of HP Omen does not have that option because it is not shipped with RGB (red, blue and green) keyboard anymore.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great day!

Hi
Reading this post I have the exact same issue, I have downloaded all of the updates off the website but the colour changing option still does not work, My Model is 15-ax0410na and was sold to me with the comments that the Keyboard was backlit AND the option was available to change the colour for all of the keys or certain sections as a true gaming Keyboard.
Could you please confirm that this model does indeed have that option or am i to return it having been sold something that does not do what I was told it does?

Hi David
Thanks for your speedy response to my issue, please find the responses to your questions below.
Model Number 7265NGW
Prod ID X0M61EA#ABU
S/N# 5CD6312FZL
Yes this is an Omen Laptop
I have watched the Video and downloaded the software from teh link you have provided. All the software works fine it lets me highlight areas of the keboard under different profiles and even provides a nice wheel of colour for me to choose what colour to light the various sections. I click ok and the profile saves but nothing changes no different coloured zones just the same Red across the whole Keyboard.
Like I said in my first post this was a big criteria for me selecting this model as I wanted a Gaming Keyboard with teh different zones. If you could please confirm if this is some error or indeed if this model of Laptop does not have that facility that was sold to me I can then ask for a refund and buy a different machine that does have this feature as this Model advertises?
Kind regards
Jjbooth
