Hello all,
I am a highschool student and new to this community. I am considering purchase of this laptop for college (https://www.costco.com/hp-omen-15%22-gaming-laptop---9th-gen-intel-core-i7---1080p---geforce-rtx-206...) because the same laptop from HP new is about $500 more. I would immediately upgrade the RAM and HDD to an SSD. I found this website detailing how: (https://www.windowscentral.com/how-upgrade-ram-ssd-and-hdd-hp-omen-15#ram). Here are my questions:
---How much ram is the maximum that this system can take? I am considering 2x16 Crucial RAM (https://www.amazon.com/Ballistix-16GBx2-PC4-19200-SODIMM-260-Pin/dp/B01DGOF3E4/?tag=wpcentralb-20&as...)
---Between these two SSD's which one should I get?
$129.00 x 500gb: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E500B-AM/dp/B00OBRE5UE?tag=wpcentralb-20&ascsu... (this is recommended by the above windows central site)
$129.00 x 1tb: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Inch-Internal-MZ-76E1T0B-AM/dp/B078DPCY3T/ref=sr_1_3?crid=WVWPZ5YAPPI...
Here is my question: why is the above link the same price for double the storage? From what I can see the only difference is that the 1tb is Samsung 860 evo instead of 850, and the 1tb has the V-NAND 3-bit MLC memory compomnent instead of the 32 layer 3D V-NAND memory component which the 500gb has.
One last question: could I do a SATA to NVME m.2 conversion for the HDD?
Many thanks,
Computer Newbie

Yes, it has RTX 2060 which is soldered to its system board part # L52267-601

Costco may order some add-in to make more attraction. By the way, it is a big customer.

The official specs is
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06459291
1. For RAM you can use 32GB (max) Crucial RAM
https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-omen-15-dc1025cl/CT163510882.
2. It has 512GB of NVMe SSD already therefore you can add 1TB or 2TB 2.5" HDD or SSD using normal/standard HDD/SSD from reliable vendors. for example
https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-omen-15-dc1025cl/CT16351049
Note: You need to buy more hardware BEFORE you can install 2.5" HDD/SSD
3. No, the controller is SATA.
Your last question
>>>> why is the above link the same price for double the storage?
Only God knows. Some retailers can have different promotion and they can reduce prices to stocking goods.
Regards.

@banhien
Sorry, one more question!! The specs according to costco are (https://www.costco.com/hp-omen-15%22-gaming-laptop---9th-gen-intel-core-i7---1080p---geforce-rtx-206...) :
Thank you so much for you help! Just a couple quick questions...on the HP list of specifications, all it mentions for graphics is the Intel® UHD Graphics 630. Other than "integrated graphics" I see no mention of the RTX 2060 claimed by Costco. Is that the same thing?? Finally, the HP specs mention nothing of Costco's 1TB HDD. Does it really come with that? Sorry for the stupid questions!!!
