OMEN 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ek1000 (2B1J9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Laptop is dead.  Daughter tried to boot it up 2 days ago, nothing happens, was working the night before.  No charging LED coming on.  Have tried a different power supply.   Fans were a little dirty but she games on it a fair amount and have cleaned them at least twice since we've had it.

I have tried resetting (holding power button) with battery disconnected, still get nothing.  I'm leaning toward the input jack at this point but other than that, I don't know.  I also tried disconnecting the stock m.2 ssd and the m.2 drive I added, as well as the fan I could access easily but still nothing.

Will be a painful hit being just 4 months out of warranty.  For some reason I thought the warranty was 3 years.  Sad to learn HP doesn't expect its product to remain in working condition for more than a year.

Any help would be appreciated.  I've already ordered an input power jack I intend on trying.  I unfortunately don't have a multimeter but will be getting one soon.  Otherwise I'm at a loss.  Never had this happen with a computer before and don't know what else to try if the new jack does not solve my problem.

Thanks

Hello @hobbs2

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

In most cases the warranty has expired, but this is wrong!

(A) You will need (1) invoice as proof and (2) serial number (s/n) of your computer if it has never been registered at HP before. You may only give this information to HP support, do not make it public.

(B) Check Warranty date !

The warranty date given online is often incorrect (it usually starts with the date of manufacture!).

The warranty starts with the date of purchase (invoice) !

Warranty Dispute

Expected: If you think the warranty details of your product are incorrect, submit a dispute through the HP warranty validation website.

Only 1 year warranty ?

I think your options are exhausted...

Sorry, but in your case: Service is required !
- The computer should be disassembled and checked.
- [Always recommended ] Thermal paste for CPU GPU and bridges must be renewed
- [Always recommended ] The function of the fan(s) must be checked

Short circuit test

- ( if required ) Bios (chip) desolder, reflash, Bios (chip) solder in

- charger/battery test

- Components test

- General cleaning ...

--- HP warranty expired:

If you can't do that, you should have it <serviced> by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.

Good luck

Hello I have the same problem. By power jack do you mean the 200w adapter?

I tried the 200w AC adapter first, this one:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0924LK6H4?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

With no luck there I replaced the power jack (what the adapter plugs into, inside of the laptop).

This one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MT32FCJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

As soon as it was replaced, I plugged in the power adapter, LED came on.  Powered it on, it did a CMOS check, rebooted itself and was good to go after that.  Hope this helps and good luck!
