OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-c0000 (343L4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a Omen 16-c0000 laptop and after bios update F.26 Rev.A my fans doesnt work properly.

First issue is fans stay at 0 rpm and i cant control with Omen Gaming Hub. I also get 90B error in startup.

Operating system is doesnt matter as fans also doesnt work in Linux.

I replaced fans with exact same new ones. The issue is still there. I believe this is a software issue. I want HP to fix this as the laptop is currently unusable.

Hi @SquoN

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing that, and I’m truly sorry your OMEN 16-c0000 is experiencing fan control issues after the BIOS update. It’s incredibly frustrating when a system designed for high performance suddenly loses thermal regulation—especially when the fans remain at 0 RPM and trigger a 90B error at startup.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery approach to help restore fan functionality:

1. Perform a BIOS Rollback (If Available)

2. Reset BIOS Settings

  • Power on and press Esc, then F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Navigate to Exit > Load Setup Defaults.
  • Save and exit. This may restore fan control logic if settings were corrupted.

3. Clear CMOS (If Accessible)

  • If your model allows access to the CMOS battery, disconnect it briefly to reset firmware-level settings.
  • This can help clear persistent fan control errors.

4. Update OMEN Gaming Hub

  • Ensure the OMEN Gaming Hub is fully updated via Microsoft Store.
  • Reinstall if necessary and check for fan control modules under System Vitals.

5. Run HP UEFI Diagnostics

  • Download and install the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  • Create a bootable USB and run System Tests > Fan Test.
  • This may help detect firmware-level fan faults.

6. Check for EC Firmware Updates

  • Embedded Controller (EC) firmware may be bundled with BIOS or chipset updates.
  • Install the latest chipset driver from the support page to ensure EC sync.

If the issue persists after these steps, the BIOS update may have corrupted fan control logic at the firmware level.  Let’s work together to bring your OMEN system back to full thermal performance.

It is impossible to rollback BIOS. Locked by HP.

@SquoN, I'm truly sorry you're going through this. When a BIOS update causes fan control to fail—especially with a 90B error and zero RPM—it’s not just inconvenient, it’s unacceptable for a high-performance system like the OMEN 16-c0000.

You've already replaced the fans and tested across operating systems, which rules out hardware and OS-level causes. That’s incredibly thorough.

Dear HP Support Team,

I am writing regarding my HP OMEN 16 laptop, which became defective after a recent software/Bios update provided by HP. After the update, the device's fans stopped functioning properly and the device is cannot be used as intended.

I have confirmed that many other users experienced the same issue, and according to reports, HP Poland officially recognized it as a BIOS-related defect and issued a replacement or refund for affected customers.

As this issue was caused by an HP software update, it falls under manufacturer liability according to EU Directive 2019/771, which requires the seller or manufacturer to repair, replace, or refund products that become defective due to software updates.

Therefore, I am formally requesting a full refund or a replacement device of different specification (As this issue will happen in same model, a different model must be given), as repair is not a suitable remedy for this manufacturer-induced defect.

Please confirm how to proceed with the replacement or refund process.
Thank you for your understanding and prompt assistance.

Best regards,
